ORGANISERS are expecting war on water when the Warilla Bowls Surf Boat Series resumes with today's third round at Port Kembla.

Wollongong City sweep Greg Hale will have his crew primed to conquer Austinmer's powerful crews in the open men, with Batemans Bay and Moruya withdrawing to recover from the recent George Bass Marathon.

The open women's division is likely to be very closely fought out between Batemans Bay, Austinmer, Windang and Bulli, while the reserve men is wide open.

"With the festive season now well and truly over, crews will be keen for good competition as they start to build for the upcoming state and Australian championships," series co-ordinator John Masters said.

"Some of the closest racing of the day should come in the reserve boats. There's a chance that Australian champions Bulli Gold will compete for the first time this season. If they do, they would certainly be the crew to catch."

Austinmer Blue, Warilla and Bulli Gold are the main contenders in the under 23 men, while Warilla are keen to boost their lead in the under 23 women. The under 19 men's division is a toss-up between several crews.
