WARILLA'S Kyle Johannes will play Louren Katague from Merrylands in a battle of the sexes in the singles final of Junior South Pacific lawn bowls on his home green.
Johannes kept his nerve to record three close victories yesterday and make tomorrow's final at Warilla.He started the day with a nail-biting 25-23 defeat of Cootamundra' Chris Luck in the first round of post-sectional play and then took care of Chris Herden from Tamworth 25-19 in the quarter-finals.Johannes' easiest win came in the semi-finals with a 25-19 win over Sam Pryor from Gunnedah.NSW under 18 girls representative Katague took advantage of a first-round bye before beating West Dubbo's Matt McIntyre 25-23 in the quarter-final and Penrith's Trent Whittington 25-21 in the semi-finals.The under 15 singles title went to Mitchell McLean from Tuross Heads when he beat Guildford's Jamie Phillips 25-23 in the final.McLean went into the final as the underdog after having a bye in the first round and beating St Marys' Luke Scerri 25-19 in the semi-final. Phillips had won a tight first-round contest 25-22 over Matthew Meijer from Tuross Heads before a one-sided 25-15 semi-final against Batemans Bay's Luke Dudman.
