THE minor premiership could well be on the line when second-placed Ettalong Memorial (106.5) host leaders Redhead (110) in the Invitation Big Bowls Challenge on Friday night.

Redhead, despite being beaten 9.5-5.5 by East Maitland on Wednesday, bounced back with a 10.5-4.5 victory over Wallsend on Friday night.

Ettalong Memorial rocketed into second place with a 10-5 victory against Charlestown and then a 16-0 whitewash of last-placed Nelson Bay.

NSW representative Shane Garvey missed those two wins but will be back as the marquee player for Ettalong Memorial and will play in the singles rubber.

He will take over from Darren Morrison, who beat NSW representative and former England No.1 David Holt in straight sets when Ettalong Memorial defeated Charlestown.

This week is the penultimate round of the competition and tonight Kahibah (62.5) host East Cessnock (79) while tomorrow night Nelson Bay (45) are at home to East Maitland (76.5).

Then in other games on Friday night Alder Park (72.5) host Halekulani (59), Kurri Kurri (93) are home to Charlestown (89.5) and The Entrance (67) extend the welcome mat to Wallsend (85.5). Valentine (83) have the bye.

Kurri Kurri, Kahibah and Halekulani all have two deferred matches to play while Valentine and East Maitland have one each in hand.

? Toronto Workers quartet Col Linton, Kim Jaques, Neville Hardes and Sam Laguzza remained unbeaten with five wins and a plus margin of 94 shots in winning the Australia Day Fours played at Raymond Terrace over the weekend.
