BATEMANS Bay are gunning for their first Warilla Bowls Surf Boat Series title in this afternoon's final round at Warilla.
Leaders Batemans Bay know they have a battle on their hands.Austinmer Blue are their greatest threats, with Wollongong City expected to throw down the challenge.Austi are oozing confidence after clinching their second straight Ocean Thunder series last weekend, but missed round one of the Warilla Bowls series and are not in contention."This is the last serious hit-out for crews before they compete at the state championships at Swansea in two weeks," said series organiser John Masters."With over 80 crews, this season has been one of our most successful. Our crews have been prominent at major events."Austinmer, Batemans Bay, Bulli, Moruya and Warilla Barrack Point should all figure prominently at Swansea."Austinmer White head the open women's division and face stiff opposition from Windang and Batemans Bay Divas. Warilla are favoured to streak away with the under 23 women's title.The reserve men's division is a toss-up between Shellharbour, Batemans Bay, Austinmer White and the improving Corrimal crews.Bulli Gold and Warilla are the top under 23 men's crews, but will have to fight hard to hold off Austinmer Blue.Mollymook and Bulli's two crews are the main contenders among the under 19 men.Helensburgh-Stanwell Park is on top of the men veteran's division, with Woonona Black and Broulee next best.
