Bowls Back On The Agenda

LAWN bowls is back on the agenda at the Illawarra Academy of Sport.

Bowlers the calibre of world champion and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Karen Murphy were part of the highly successful program in the early 1990's.

NSW and Australian title winners Tom Ellem, Leif Selby and Troy Somerville were academy graduates before going on to bigger and better things.

Now, after a lengthy hiatus, lawn bowls has returned to the IAS and trials are being held at Warilla Bowling Club on Sunday morning from 9.30.

Coach Eric Johannes and assistant Shaun Parnis will cast an eye over the young hopefuls.
