ILLAWARRA'S major pairs champions will be decided after a big weekend of bowls at Wollongong RSL.
The round of 16 matches will be played on Saturday from 9am: Bulli has four teams still in contention, while Warilla and Thirroul have three teams each still in the running.Semi-finals will be played on Saturday afternoon, followed by the finals and grand final on Sunday. In the top half of the draw, Wollongong RSL duo Harry Johnston and Greg Thurling will play Fairy Meadow's Attilio Caputo and John Harriott. Thirroul's Gavin Aitken and Darryl Webster will meet Wollongong RSL's Shaun Parnis and Craig Roberts, while fellow Thirroul combination William Tunstall and Brian Johnson face off against Warilla pairing John Ritchie and Eric Johannes.Warilla's Jamie Mitchell and Geoff McGillivray face Towradgi Park pair Tom Ellem and Paul Luke. In the bottom half of the draw, Warilla's Martin Wilson and Paul Woods will play Bulli's Ray Smiles and Norm Flanagan. Another Bulli duo, Neville Izzard and Robert Hasley face off against Corrimal's Gary Woods and Nathan Joannou. The Oak Flats team of Ces Selby and Peter Delamont will play Bulli's Paul and Geoff Hancox. Thirroul's Matt Sargeant and Edward Clarke face Bulli's Warren Hamilton and Paul Robertson.
