NELSON Bay bowls manager Terry Antram had a large headache last night after creating history at Wallsend.

Antram became the first player to qualify for the semi-finals of three team events at the same Mattara carnival when he steered clubmates Craig Hines and Ray Asquith into the last four of the Frank Neat Memorial Club Knockout triples.

Antram is also in the semi-finals of the men's open pairs and fours, which also will be played this morning, and last night he was trying to organise substitutes for himself and clubmates Mark Oldham, who is the pairs and the fours semi-finals, and Asquith, who is also still alive in the fours.

"Club members are waiting back at the Bay for the call to arms, and it will just be a matter of turning up at Wallsend in the morning with enough troops and then sorting everything out from there,"Antram said.

The Nelson Bay trio beat Raymond Terrace's Ross Gardner, Lennon Scott and Jason Stokes 23-19 in the quarter-finals and will meet Cardiff's Ed Mulder, Greg Solomons and Ted Aitchison.

In the second semi-final, Les Pyke, Terry McCabe and Russell Hill (Windale Gateshead) will play Stockton's Richard Hadley, Brian Hitchcock and Paul Wilson.
