2019 Australian Champion of Champions: Hayman secures Women’s title

by Bowls Australia on October 10, 2019

BCiB Australian Jackaroo and New South Wales representative Dawn Hayman has sewn up the 2019 Australian Champion of Champions Women’s title, with a round to spare.

The 22-year-old has been a class above in her field over the first two days of competition, winning all six of her games, including the title-clincher against South Australia’s Renata Callisto late on Day 2.

It’s Hayman’s first Australian Champion of Champions title, a stunning feat for the St John’s Park product who in recent months was elevated to the BCiB Australian Jackaroos top-tier squad.

She will complete her final round tomorrow (Friday) against Northern Territory’s Colleen Orr, before being presented with the title thereafter.

The win will also see Hayman compete in the 2020 World Singles Champion of Champions in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s field, Victoria’s Nathan Bush holds a slender five-shot advantage over New South Wales’ Ray Pearse heading into Round 7, with both players equal on five wins.

Bush takes on Queensland’s Eric Johannes while Pearse will face Northern Territory’s Bruce Fyfe, with both the result of these matches set to decide the Men’s title.
