2019 Australian Indoor Championships: Final four almost set

by Bowls Australia on August 28, 2019

All but one finalist have been determined as the 2019 Australian Indoor Championships heads towards its climax, with one remaining Men’s Semi-Final to serve as an entree for a tantalising Thursday of finals action.

Six-time winner of the event Karen Murphy sealed her passage through to yet another Indoors Final in the opening session, comfortably accounting for Warilla’s Pamela Willetts, who had enjoyed a giant-killing run up until the Semi-Final.

She’ll take on state teammate Genevieve Delves, who emerged victorious from a nail-biting contest with Samantha Noronha, collecting a three on the final end of the match to secure a come-from-behind win after the first set was drawn.

Elsewhere and defending Men’s champion Aaron Teys survived a late scare to account for tournament debutant Daniel Hill.

Having comfortably accounted for Hill in the first set, the Charlestown product responded in the second set and led Teys for the most part, before the BCiB Australian Jackaroo was able to force a drawn set and win the match.

Teys will take on the winner of Dane McKinnon and Robert Briglia, who will square off in an all-Victorian Semi-Final on Thursday morning from 9am.
