2019 Golden Nugget: Jackaroo quintet qualify for semis

by Bowls Australia on August 7, 2019

BCiB Australian Jackaroos Aaron Teys, Corey Wedlock, Ellen Ryan, Natasha Scott and Chloe Stewart have swept through their respective star-studded sections to qualify for the 2019 Golden Nugget semi-finals.

Stewart, a local favourite given her affinity to host venue the Tweed Heads Bowls Club, progressed through her section without tasting defeat, the only player outside of New Zealand stalwart Jo Edwards to do so across the entire event.

Teys was the other Aussie to top his section, while Wedlock, Scott and Ryan finished in second place, setting up some tantalising semi-finals which get underway tomorrow morning from 9:30 (Thursday, August 8), followed by both men’s and women’s finals at 1:30pm.

Collectively, the five Aussie semi-finalists hold an average age of just over 24, which further highlights their efforts in progressing through a field packed with older and more-fancied contenders.

See below for semi-final fixtures:

Aaron Teys (NSW) v Gary Kelly (NIR)

Ryan Bester (CAN) v Corey Wedlock (NSW)

Jo Edwards (NZ) v Ellen Ryan (NSW)

Natasha Scott (NSW) v Chloe Stewart (QLD)
