2019 Junior Nugget: Davies & Bourke continue dominant run

by Bowls Australia on August 5, 2019

Australian Emerging Jackaroos Jarryd Davies and Kira Bourke have continued their dominant run at the junior level of the sport, taking out the prestigious Boys’ and Girls’ 2019 Junior Nugget titles at Tweed Heads Bowls Club.

With the finals moving to a 25 shots up format (after the previous knockout and sectional rounds were 21 shots up), both players appeared to save their best performance for the big dance, with Davies overpowering Queenslander Kane Nelson (25-16) and Bourke dominant over New South Wales’ Brittany Camp (25-10).

En-route to the final, Davies defeated Victorian Kyle Williams (QF – 21-9) and then fellow Emerging Jackaroo Jake Rynne (SF – 21-11), while Bourke was too good for NSW’s Mia Hotson (QF – 21-11) and former Victorian teammate Olivia Cartwright (SF – 21-13).

With both players having recently enjoyed their 17th Birthdays and the 2019 Australian Open Under-18 Singles titles, they are quickly stamping their authority as arguably the two finest junior bowlers in the country.

The 2019 Golden Nugget begins today (Monday) from the Tweed Heads Bowls Club. See below for draws:
