2019 Trans Tasman Test Series: Disciplines confirmed for Development team

by Bowls Australia on October 18, 2019

The Jackaroos collective make-up for the 2019 Trans Tasman Test Series is beginning to take shape, with the disciplines confirmed for the previously announced Development team.

As has been tradition, both Australia and New Zealand will be afforded the opportunity to field open and development teams for the annual event, as well as the introduction of an Over-60’s event for the first time.

BCiB Australian Jackaroos Ellen Ryan and Ben Twist will lead the Development team in Singles duties, with both backing up in the Pairs alongside 2019 Women’s Australian Champion of Champions winner Dawn Hayman and Club Helensvale local Jayden Christie respectively.

The teenage duo rewarded for their performances in the recent Australian Under-18 Championships, Queensland’s Kira Bourke and Jake Rynne, have been entrusted with the lead duties in both the Triples and Fours, while the more experienced Tiffany Brodie, Bolivia Millerick, Jesse Noronha and Carl Healey fill the remaining positions.

The 2019 Trans Tasman Test Series is the second of two back-to-back marquee events staged on the Gold Coast in November, with the 2019 Multi-Nations (November 18-24) to kick-start a 10-day festival of international bowls.

A second Trans Tasman Test Series will be staged in early February next year, again on the Gold Coast and will act as the final opportunity for the Jackaroos to press their claims for a World Bowls Championships berth.

Following the 2020 event, New Zealand will then be afforded the hosting rights of consecutive Trans Tasman Test Series.
