2020 Australian Championships cancelled

by Aidan Davis on May 27, 2021

The 2020 Australian Championships currently being staged at Dandenong Club has been cancelled immediately, following the Victorian Government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions.

The Victorian Government has this morning announced a seven-day lockdown for Victoria commencing from midnight until June 4, on the back of 34 active COVID cases, and as such, Bowls Australia (BA) has regretfully made the decision to terminate the event effective immediately to enable participants the opportunity to return to their home states and territories as safely and conveniently as possible.

The remaining mixed pairs matches scheduled for today and tomorrow’s men’s and women’s singles matches will not be held; details about whether they will be cancelled outright or postponed will be made at a later date.

All participants and spectators who have attended the event are advised to closely follow government health advice and state/territory border restrictions applicable to their place of travel.

BA thanks participants and spectators for their understanding during this difficult and uncertain time and wish everyone safe travels home.

Furthermore, BA also acknowledge the support of Dandenong Club and the Victorian Government in the delivery of this event.
