2020 BPL Cup all in good time

by Aidan Davis on August 31, 2020

There will be added opportunity to compete in the BPL Cup this year, with an extension to the deadline for staging all pre-finals rounds.

Following confirmation that the BPL Cup National Finals are set to be held alongside Moama’s Bowls Premier League (BPL12), from February 23-26, 2021, rather than the now-postponed Club Pine River’s BPL in November 2020, the entire 2020 BPL Cup season has now been extended, giving greater chance to secure an expense-paid trip to the big finale.

Preliminary rounds are now able to be staged up until December 6, the Regional Finals will now occur between Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, January 10, while the State/Territory Finals can be completed up until Sunday, January 24.

Given the varying COVID-19 restrictions in place across states and territories, all existing BPL Cup rounds that request a change of date will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with special consideration provided to clubs from Victoria and New South Wales, given their limitations on delivering competition sport.

This extension provides clubs with additional time to stage any preliminary rounds which were feared might have been cancelled, gives new and existing clubs scope to stage more preliminary round events later in the year, and ensures greater opportunity for players to partake in the exciting BPL Cup initiative.

BPL Cup preliminary round host clubs should submit their requests for new dates here.
