Advisement on Puma Retaliate 2 shoes
Bowls Australia (BA), by virtue of the ‘Laws of the Sport of Bowls – Crystal Mark Fourth Edition’, is charged with the approval of footwear for use on Australian bowls greens.
Since their listing as approved footwear on bowls.com.au on 16 June 2023, broad feedback has been received from the bowls community on the “Puma Retaliate 2 – Full white sole only” shoe which raised concerns relating to the shoe’s meeting of the criteria set out in the approval guidelines.
Upon review, it has been recognised that there may have been inconsistencies and issues relating to the approval process and, through mutual agreement, BA together with TLA Puma have decided to withdraw the “Puma Retaliate 2 – Full white sole only” shoes from the approved list of footwear.
Recognising that the shoes are presently in use on bowls greens across the country, BA will provide a grace period, until 30 June 2024, for the “Puma Retaliate 2 – Full white sole only” shoes to continue to be used on bowls greens in Australia.
