Brisbane Gold look like the team to beat at the half way mark of the $100,000 APL Host state XXXX Brisbane Gold have cemented their position at the top of the standings at the halfway mark of the $100,000 Australian Premier League.

The home ground advantage at Club Pine Rivers appears to be paying dividends for the Gold’s Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kelvin Kerkow OAM, former world number one Mark Case and local lad Robbie Wild, after a stunning straight sets 14-4, 11-0 victory over the previously first placed Blundstone Melbourne Roys gave them their fourth win in five rubbers.

The Gold now sit a game clear of the Roys and the Solargain Perth Suns, who managed to scrape through unscathed against the one-win Sydney Lions contingent in the tie-break, 5-9, 11-5, 1-0.

In the remaining fifth round encounter, the Adelaide Endurance prevailed in a heated contest against the international insurgents, the TOWER New Zealand Blackjacks, 11-1, 5-8, 1-0, but still trail the fourth placed Kiwi outfit on the standings ladder on set points.

The sixth and final round of day two, which is broadcast live on Fox Sports 2 and Sky TV NZ from 5.00pm to 9.30pm AEST, sees the Sydney Lions face the Brisbane Gold from 5.00pm AEST, Adelaide Endurance square off against the Perth Suns from 6.30pm, and then the Melbourne Roys are pitted against the New Zealand Blackjacks from 8.00pm.
