Australia ends Trans Tasman series on high

by Val Febbo on June 6, 2022

The Right at Home Australian Jackaroos have ended a near-perfect 2022 Trans Tasman Test Series with a whitewash over the New Zealand Blackjacks at Club Tamborine.

The day began in unfortunate fashion in the para events, with vision impaired Jackaroo Helen Boardman suffering an illness, causing the VI mixed pairs to be abandoned for the day.

The Para men’s pairs would also be called off halfway through the opening session due to an injury to New Zealand skip Mark Noble, which he sustained prior to the trip across the ditch.

In the men’s disciplines the Jackaroos enjoyed another fruitful day, amassing five wins from the six rubbers with the only blemish coming at the hands of the Ali Forsyth skipped triples in the second session.

Aaron Wilson and Corey Wedlock emerged undefeated on the final day, with the former’s non besmirched record extending throughout the entirety of the event, claiming victory in all nine of his matches.

Ellen Ryan would provide the same record as Wilson, boasting a perfect record from her nine rubbers with two singles wins to go along with a pairs triumph in the middle session with Kristina Krstic.

The women’s squad posted wins in every match on the final day of competition, amassing a total of 133 shots to the Blackjacks’ 48.
