Australian Multi-Disability Championships locked in for 2021

The Australian Multi-Disability Championships have been confirmed for 2021, set to take place alongside The Nationals from October 1-6 at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast.

Mermaid Beach has a strong recent pedigree with staging high-profile events, having been a host venue of the Australian Open since its inception on the Gold Coast in 2015, as well as having held Queensland State Championships and District Sides.

With the remaining events within the 2021 Nationals (see below) to be staged from October 1-15 at Broadbeach Bowls Club, the Australian Multi-Disability Championships will supplement the event from a secondary venue and include the following disciplines; B5/B6 Women’s Singles, B7/B8 Women’s Singles, B5/B6 Men’s Singles, B7/B8 Men’s Singles, B5-B8 Women’s Pairs, B5/B6 Men’s Pairs, B7/B8 Men’s Pairs and Open Triples.

Jeff Burchell, Chairman of Mermaid Beach, welcomed the decision by Bowls Australia (BA) to award hosting rights to the club.

“Being centrally located, the club will be perfect for this event and we’re excited to welcome the very best para-sport bowlers from around the country,” Burchell said.

“Our visitors will be able to enjoy different accommodation, dining choices and all that the Gold Coast has to offer.

“We thank BA for choosing our club.”

State and Territory Associations’s will be permitted field a maximum of 10 athletes with a composition of six (6) men and four (4) women in each side.
