BPL Cup semi finalists locked in

by Lachlan Williams on February 24, 2022

Thirteen teams came to Moama with hopes of returning home with the BPL Cup in hand, now just four remain after some hard-fought sectional rounds.

Teams battled it out across Wednesday and Thursday at the Moama Bowling Club in the BPL Cup National Finals after months of qualifying throughout 2021.

Section One was dominated by Warrnambool’s City Memorial team, rolling through their group without a loss and without dropping a set to advance to the semi finals.

Section Two honours could have gone to any of the four teams competing, with only one set point separating the eventual semi finalist from the second spot.

Reigning BPL Cup champions West Lakes won two of their pool games, but will miss out on the semi finals by one set point, with NSW’s Club Charlestown advancing.

Airlie Beach won three of four matches in their five-team section to secure their semi-final place, while Club Mount Lewis will also advance as a next-best qualifier.

BPL Cup semi finals will commence from 9am on Friday morning, with the winners to meet in the final at 1pm. The 2021 BPL Cup final will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sport NZ.
