#BPL11: Sherriff, Wilson share MVP honours

by Lachlan Williams on February 28, 2020

For the first time in Bowls Premier League history, there are joint MVP winners.

Sydney Lions’ Aron Sherriff and Melbourne Roys’ Aaron Wilson both polled 30 votes from the 14 matches in round robin play at Moama Bowling Club to share the #BPL11 honour.

Wilson polled in all 14 matches, picking up 3 votes in six of those outings.

Sherriff missed out on votes in just one game, managing the maximum amount of votes in seven of his appearances, including six from his final seven games.

Both Sherriff and Wilson were influential in taking their sides deep into the finals, with Sherriff’s Lions bowing out to Wilson’s Roys in the preliminary final, and the Roys finishing as #BPL11 runners up.

Sherriff becomes the first player to win the MVP award three times, while it is Wilson’s first BPL MVP.

Despite missing a match and carrying an injury in her final two, New Zealand international Jo Edwards proved her class in her return to the BPL, collecting 17 votes as the top polling female player.
