#BPL12: Day 1

by Bowls Australia on February 23, 2021

Melbourne Pulse were the statement-makers at Moama on Tuesday, as Bowls Premier League action returned for the first time in 12 months.

Players and spectators alike were delighted to see #BPL12 commence and witness some of the best bowlers in the world and the country compete.

The opening day well and truly belonged to the Pulse, recording a perfect record of four wins from four games. They stood up in clutch moments, with three of the four wins coming in three sets.

The Melbourne sides go into day two of the competition holding the top two spots on the ladder, with the Roys sitting in second after a solid day with three wins.

A new look Brisbane Pirates side is also not far off the pace, also registering a trio of victories.

The table looks balanced through the middle as is customary with the close nature of the BPL, but it is towards the bottom that has caused a shock.

Perennial contenders Sydney Lions failed to record a win on Tuesday, but are a side to look out for with plenty to prove as the week progresses.

#BPL12 is the first Bowls Australia event since February, with the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on last year’s bowls calendar.

Play will resume from 10.30am AEDT at Moama on Wednesday. Day games will be streamed live on Bowls Australia’s Facebook page.
