BPL15: Hometown Pirates find form, contenders taking shape

by Lachlan Williams on May 25, 2022

Hometown team Brisbane Pirates were the big winners on day three of BPL15 at Club Pine Rivers, as the table begins to take shape and finals spots become a little clearer.

The Pirates came into the day in fourth spot, but four wins from five matches on Wednesday helped them finish the day atop the table.

The Melbourne Pulse also had a day to remember, also securing four wins to sit behind Brisbane on net set points.

The Pulse’s Melbourne counterpart also recorder four straight wins to finish the day, sitting in third, level with the Sydney Lions and Moama Steamers on points.

Early competition leaders Tasmania Tridents failed to consolidate their position in the top five, but with a balance ledger of six wins and losses each, they are still in the hunt in the lead in to moving day.

The Adelaide Pioneers sit right with the Tridents, but it is a long way back for the Perth Suns, Gold Coast Hawks and Tweed Heads Ospreys.

The bottom three sides are still outside chances to claim top five spots, but will have to be near-perfect in the final six regular competition rounds.

Thursday marks moving day for all teams, looking to place themselves well ahead of the closing stages of the event.
