by Lachlan Williams on February 23, 2024

Melbourne Pulse star Gary Kelly becomes the 10th Bowls Premier League MVP winner, rewarded for an outstanding week on the greens at Moama Bowling Club throughout #BPL19.

The Northern Irishman accumulated 39 votes from a possible 54 available to claim his first BPL MVP honour.

Competing in his 10th event, Kelly was previously an MVP runner-up at BPL16, but was able to breakthrough at Moama as he helped the Pulse to second on the ladder and win a third BPL title.

Kelly was well clear of other competitors, finishing five votes clear of a trio of runners up.

Aaron Wilson (Sydney Lions), Aron Sherriff (Moama Steamers) and Wayne Ruediger (Adelaide Pioneers) polled 34 votes to finish equal runners up.

Wilson was adjudged the second member of the All Star team, following implementation of a judging panel to split the trio. Wilson helped the Lions to claim the top spot after 18 rounds of play, winning 11 games.

It is Wilson’s second All Star appearance, previously runner up at BPL17 also at Moama.

Joining Kelly & Wilson in the All Star team is All Star debutant Dawn Hayman (Moreton Bay Pirates), who starred in her first event with the Club Pine Rivers-owned franchise.

The Right at Home Jackaroo polled 22 votes to lead the count for female players at BPL19.

Andrew Breeden-Walton and Jeremy Henry (Melbourne Pulse) round out the All Star team as joint coaches after coaching the champions.

Corey Wedlock (Tweed Heads Ospreys) rounded out the MVP top five with 32 votes to his name.
