Club Tweed and Broadbeach Bowls Club have been confirmed as the joint hosts of this year’s edition of bowls’ showpiece ‘state versus state/territory’ national competition, The Nationals.

The 2024 Nationals, which is now set to be staged from October 9-24, features six national events inclusive of all ages and abilities, spanning junior, open-age, senior, para and able-bodied competitions.

Club Tweed will host the lion’s share of the Nationals, inclusive of four of the six events, being the Australian Champion of Champions, Australian Under-18 Championships, Australian Senior Sides Championships and Australian Sides Championships events, across October 9-20.

Broadbeach Bowls Club will also play an integral role, as host venue of the Para Nationals and Australian Championships events, with the Para Nationals held across October 9-12 and the Australian Championships staged from October 21-24.

Bowls Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Matthew Kennedy said Club Tweed and Broadbeach Bowls Club were ideal host venues to stage the two-week long, multi-disciplinary Nationals event.

“Club Tweed and Broadbeach Bowls Club are two of the world’s premier clubs and are a natural fit to host the next staging of the Nationals, which is unquestionably one of the sport’s pre-eminent competitions and attracts Australia’s best bowlers,” Kennedy said.

“Bowls Australia are delighted that the 700-odd competitors and additional event spectators will experience the wonderful facilities that Club Tweed and Broadbeach Bowls Club have to offer.”

Club Tweed’s Chairman Leigh Tynan said the club’s members and volunteers would relish the opportunity to contribute to and witness the coveted event up close.

“Club Tweed is delighted and proud to be hosting the 2024 Nationals – bowls showpiece “state versus state/territory” national competition,” Tynan said.

“Club Tweed has a long history of hosting prestigious events, and the 2024 Nationals will be a highlight that our members and volunteers will look forward to; we look forward to welcoming everyone to Club Tweed in October.”

Broadbeach Bowls Club’s Chairman Wayne Adams said the club was eagerly looking forward to contributing to the event.

“Broadbeach Bowls Club is thrilled to be able to host the 2024 Nationals’ Para Nationals and Australian Championships events in October,” Adams said.

“Having hosted the event in 2022, Broadbeach Bowls Club’s members and volunteers are all well aware of the extraordinary quality of competitors and competition involved in these coveted events, and we look forward to hosting them later in year.”
