Edgeworth enjoy double dose of Jack Attack

by Bowls Australia on December 19, 2018

Following the success of their first Autumn venture into Jack Attack, Bowls Australia’s (BA) national social-competitive participation product, Edgeworth Bowling Club couldn’t wait for Winter to finish so they could run their second competition.

Kicking off on October 26, the ‘battle of the local businesses’ would last six weeks, with club Bowls Coordinator Mick Kedwell and RBM Mark Whiteman once again hitting the streets around the club searching for new business teams to get involved.

Mick already had a commitment from most of the original eight teams but he was confident we could get a few more.

10 teams was the final number but due to a late withdrawal, nine teams took to the green each week for the chance at the first prize of $400, but more importantly to have some fun and a few drinks in a social setting.

Mick was very thankful of the support provided by BA’s Operations Coordinator Dani Montague when he needed assistance with updating the competition management scoring system.

The event ran extremely well and the competitiveness was starting to show with teams keeping a close eye on the weekly scoresheet and standings.

When the final night rolled around on Tuesday, November 27, the result of certain games would determine who would be champions.

While it’s always nice to win, Jack Attack competitions are also a great way to connect socially with your teammates and in this competition, other local businesses.

Teams thoroughly enjoyed the game and the final result came down to shots for and against after three teams finished on equal points.

Hunter Valley Stone Masons took out the first prize and two teams from Bakers Delight not far behind taking second and third place.

The remaining teams didn’t go home empty handed with a few Jack Attack branded pens and stubby holders proving very popular.

Jack Attack can be successful at your club with the right coordinator and support of the club. Edgeworth is already setting dates for new seasons in 2019 and they are confident and enthusiastic enough to always make it work. If your club is interested in Jack Attack, give your local Regional Bowls Manager a call to find out more!
