The venue for this year’s staging of the Australian Senior Sides Championships has been confirmed as Ettalong Memorial Bowling Club, on NSW’s Central Coast.

Ettalong, which recently hosted the Australian Sides Championships with aplomb, is among only a handful of NSW clubs that boast the four grass greens required to stage the Senior Sides event, to be held from Monday, October 21 to Thursday, October 24.

The Australian Senior Sides Championships is a prestigious event on the national bowls calendar which involves 192 elite senior bowlers, both male and female, from all eight State and Territories.

Bowls Australia CEO Neil Dalrymple said this partnership is a coup for the Australian Senior Sides Championships and for the greater community of the Central Coast.

“On the back of April’s highly successful Australian Sides Championships at Ettalong, to see another prestigious national bowling event return to the venue is a testament to the running and hospitality of the club,” he said.

“The Central Coast of New South Wales is a strong heartland for the sport of bowls and those selected for these championships will undoubtedly be impressed and looked after by Bowls Coordinator John Roberts and his tireless band of volunteers at the Ettalong Bowling Club.”

Victoria will enter this year’s event as the reigning Glyn Bosisto MBE Overall Champions and John Dobbie AM Men’s trophy-holders, while NSW will attempt to defend the Betty Collins OAM Women’s trophy, after prevailing at the most recent contest in South Australia in 2018.
