Team background
The Bowls Tasmania-owned Tridents secured the licence in the biannual competition from 2022, through funding contributed by the Tasmanian Government as part of an Election promise and have filled their roster with an all-Tasmanian line-up headlined by the state’s preeminent player, Rebecca Van Asch.
The three-pronged Tridents moniker was chosen to represent the three regions of Tasmania and the three Tasmanian players that will carry the state’s hopes on the national stage.
Tasmania long wanted to be part of the BPL competition; the provision of a pathway for bowlers in the state to progress their bowls and aspire for greater rewards has been limited in the past; the BPL now provides that vehicle for which Tasmanian players can now showcase the tremendous talent from within their state.
