New Bowls Premier League (BPL) franchise the Geelong Jets has announced its full roster ahead of the team’s debut tournament at BPL20 in November.

Owned by Ocean Grove, the playing trio will launch into the tournament with a scintillating lineup of Paul Foster MBE, Jamie-Lee Worsnop and Aaron Wilson under coach Matt Flapper.

Foster has been long admired by bowlers on Australian shores, having performed with distinction at both international level and the national landscape.

The 51-year-old has won two Commonwealth Games gold medals in the country, as well as a World Bowls Championships title and an Australian Open fours crown.

It sets up a tantalising matchup with his Scottish compatriot in Alex Marshall, which adds even more star power to the made-for-television tournament.

Right at Home Jackaroo in Worsnop will also play her first match at the tournament in a major boost for the team, having performed in sensational fashion across all levels of the sport.

She will team up with her fiancee in Wilson, which will see one of the first times that partners have played with each other at the event.

Wilson is a former winner at the event, having taken out BPL14 with the Sydney Lions, and is a dual All Star team member, on top of two Commonwealth gold medals and a World Championship title.

Flapper, an All Star alumni and three-time runner up at the tournament with the Melbourne Roys and Melbourne eXtreme, will take the helm as he steps away from playing duties.

The Ocean Grove member will add an abundance of experience and local flavour to the team, taking those along for the ride as the franchise looks to claim the title on debut.

The former Jackaroo is jubilant with the team assembled and looks forward to taking the reigns at Pine Rivers.

“What an opportunity, I am thrilled to be involved with such a talented team,” Flapper said.

“Our roster is filled with exceptional players but more importantly great people who will be terrific ambassadors for the Geelong Jets, and I am eager to see what we can achieve together, it’s going to be thrilling to sit rink side watching these three strut their stuff.

“This appointment aligns perfectly with our club’s vision of competing with the nation’s best.

“We are committed to excellence and are excited by representing the Geelong region on the biggest of stages.”

BPL20 will take place from November 11-15, 2024, at Club Pine Rivers with live streaming via Bowls Australia’s YouTube channel.
