Gold, silver and bronze for Jackaroos

Following the first round of disciplines at the 8-nations tournament in Glasgow, the Australian Jackaroos have claimed their first gold medal courtesy of the men’s triples team of Barrie Lester (Vic), Nathan Rice (QLD) & Aron Sherriff (NSW) 15-12 over old foe England (pictured)
The first three days of competition comprised of the men’s triples and pairs and women’s singles and fours events while the Australian Bowlers with a Disability (AWD) competed in their triples competition.
The medal dais was full of Australian’s at the first medal ceremony of the tournament with Brett Wilkie (QLD) & Matthew Flapper (Vic) taking the silver medal in the men’s pairs in their gold medal playoff match 11-12 over Scotland Clyde.
Joining the boys on the dais were the New South Wales dominated Jackaroos women’s fours combination of Claire Duke (NSW), Natasha Van Eldik (NSW), Karen Murphy (NSW) and Kelsey Cottrell (NSW) who prevailed over England in the playoff for 3rd and 4th (24-13).
Australia concluded the event in 8th position in the women’s singles division while in the AWD triples, Australia finished in 4th position just narrowly missing out on a medal. Barry Charity, Tony Bonnell and Tim Slater fell short of Scotland Clyde (12-16) in the bronze medal playoff.
