Jackaroos seal Trans Tasman honours

The Right at Home Australian Jackaroos have wrapped up the 2022 Trans Tasman Test Series a day early, having reached an unassailable lead in the best-of-three test event at Club Tamborine.

The green and gold contingent were clinical in their performance against their across-the-ditch rivals New Zealand on the penultimate day of competition today, prevailing in all but one contest in the men’s and women’s open events, while dropping just three rubbers from nine starts in the para-sport component.

As a result, the host-nation has one hand firmly planted on all four pieces of coveted silverware – for the men’s event, women’s event, para-sport event and the overall champions.

In the open event, the Blackjacks secured their sole victory of the day with a two-shot triumph in the men’s fours to round out the day’s play, while the Jackaroos were ahead in the ledger in the other 11 contests, finishing in the black by 27 shots in the men’s and a whopping 53 shots in the women’s.

Western Australian stalwart Kristina Krstic was treated to a memorable victory during her momentous 100th international capped appearance in the afternoon’s second session, with the Jackaroos quartet securing the honours by a slender shot.

In the para-sport event, New Zealand started the second day strongly, posting victories in both the men’s and women’s pairs’ opening clashes, but only managing to prevail once more throughout the day, again in the women’s pairs discipline, with the hosts ending play with six wins to three and a 29-shot margin.

The Trans Tasman Test Series continues for a final day at Queensland’s Club Tamborine from 8.30am tomorrow, as the Jackaroos look to seal the deal with a whitewash.

Rinkside Live coverage will be available on BA’s Facebook page from 8.30am AEST.
