South Australia’s Kate Argent-Bowden has been named the 2021 City of Gold Coast Under-18 Female Bowler of the Year at Bowls Australia’s (BA) Awards Night.

The 16-year-old has enjoyed a sensational year on the green, claiming the South Australian women’s singles at the State Championships, the youngest player ever to do so.

Playing out of Angaston, she took home the South Australian Under-18 singles and triples gold, while earning a silver in fours.

Argent-Bowden, a member of the Pathways Jackaroos squad, maintained that exquisite form through to the Australian Open, where she took home the Under-18 Girls’ singles title on the Gold Coast.

The young South Australian notes her family and mentors as the key influences on her bowling career and life in general, acknowledging their love and support throughout her life.

“To my family, mum, dad and nanna, they are the most supportive and loving family I could ever ask for and I wouldn’t be the person that I am or where I am today without them,” she said.

“The Angaston crew, they are the most amazing and weird bunch of people I’ve ever met but they are the best people you would ever want to bowl with and they never fail to put a smile on my face.

“To all of my coaches, they are amazing people to work with, and not only have they helped me develop as a player, but as a person as well.”
