National Rankings – May 2021

by Val Febbo on June 1, 2021

The latest National Rankings update has been released for the month of May, with a change at the helm of the women’s rankings, while the men’s field remains somewhat stable leading into the final month.

In-form BCiB Australian Jackaroo Dawn Hayman has leapt into the number one position in the rankings race, with national teammate Carla Krizanic‘s reign coming to an end after falling to 13th place.

Hayman’s rise has been continuous throughout the entire season, with the pinnacles being her NSW State Championships singles victory, as well as the 2020 Australian Champion of Champions salute in March.

Joining Hayman in the top five this month are Kristina Krstic and Natasha Van Eldik, both up one place to second and third, alongside new top five inclusions Bolivia Millerick and Rebecca Van Asch.

In the men’s update, NSW’s International Bowler of the Year Corey Wedlock remains in pole position for the third successive month, with his nearest rival in Victoria’s Thor Shannon 40 points adrift, having made up 8 points of ground.

Below Wedlock and Shannon sit Queensland’s Jacob Nelson and Jake Rynne, with Nelson upstaging his brother Kane to sit in third place, with Victoria’s Colin Veenendaal rounding out the quintet.

The rankings race is poised for a thrilling conclusion, as it enters its final month for the 2020/21 calendar year, with the highest-ranked players in each gender awarded a cheque to the value of $3,000 at the end of the period.
