New name, same service
Bowls Australia have today announced that its Community Development Officer (CDO) program will undergo a name change effective from July 1, 2014. The 13 officers that currently service bowls clubs and local communities with bowls activities will now be known as Regional Bowls Managers. The new title will be a better reflection of the pivotal role that they undertake within the community such as growing the sport of bowls to new audiences, creating a greater awareness of the benefits of participation and assisting bowls clubs in a variety of business operations such as securing local government funding and grants.
In making the announcement, Bowls Australia Chief Executive Officer Neil Dalrymple said the program has been a wonderful success and the roles of these key bowls representatives won’t change and they will continue to service the sport with the same commitment as they have always done.
“Since the programs inception in November 2011, we have seen many bowls clubs receive important and significant funding from local councils and governments for upgrades to facilities and also understanding how multi-purpose their facilities can become and these achievements are directly attributed to the great work of our officers in the field who make it all happen.
“Without the support of the Federal Government, the development of the sport of bowls through the program, now known as the Regional Bowls Manager program, could not have been possible and Bowls Australia is sincerely grateful for that support,” Dalrymple said.
