Natasha has her sight set on the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Natasha Scott (nee Van Eldik) will look to strengthen her Commonwealth Games chances at the 2014 Australian Open in Darebin, as Josh Callinan reports for the Maitland Mercury.

The Raymond Terrace Bowling Club member will begin her national campaign on Sunday with a first round singles match against Sue Coultas as she eyes off a spot in the Australian squad.

The world champion became the youngest Australian lawn bowls representative at a Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010 and Scott will be hoping to go to Glasgow in July to claim the medal which eluded her last time around.

Following her singles bout Scott will then contest the fours on Tuesday and possibly the pairs, depending on how she fares in the last chance draw.

Other locals in the mix at the 2014 Australian Open will be men’s pair Andrew Rees and Brendan baker, who get underway on Sunday while on Tuesday it will be East Cessnock combination Simon Mitchell, Brodie Turner, John Dimopoulos and Michael Cronin going around in the fours.

The Australian Open is being held at the Darebin International Sports Centre from Sunday, February 16 to Thursday, February 20.
