Golden State young-gun duo Rechelle Cole and Kristina Krstic are through to the gold medal decider of the National Champion of Champions. Western Australia’s young-gun duo Rechelle Cole and Kristina Krstic have continued the Sandgropers sublime performance at National Champion of Champions in South Australia, earning the state its third berth in the gold medal decider.

Cole and Krstic follow in the foot steps of the Golden State’s Daniel Patterson, who earned silver in the men’s singles, and Noelene Abe, who clinched the coveted crown in the women’s singles earlier today.

The 2012 Australian Open pairs finalists put the finishing touches on a near perfect run, after remaining undefeated in all three of their encounters today, progressing past South Australia, Northern Territory and Victoria to cement a place in tomorrow’s only remaining final.

The pair come up against Club Merrylands’ Kerry Farrell and Betty Herbtson, who earned the opportunity to strike gold by a slender 3 shot margin over Queensland’s Shahn Griffiths and Australian Jackaroos captain Lynsey Clarke.

A disappointing finish to the ACT’s Paige Dowsett and Margaret Bacchetto’s campaign, which saw them fall at the final hurdle to the Club Helensvale teammates by 11 shots in the third rubber, cost the Western Creek pair a spot in the final, while Griffiths and Clarke were left wondering what might have been, had their deficit against NSW been slimmer.

The women’s pairs final, featuring Rechelle Cole and Kristina Krstic against Kerry Farrell and Betty Herbtson, will be staged at 9.00am tomorrow, at Ascot Park Bowling Club, South Australia.
