At 18 ends played Queensland led 26-20, which was the biggest margin between them all day.
After 32 ends Tasmania had not only whittled that lead back, but actually led by four shots, 37-33.

With two rinks on the green playing their last ends, with scores level at 60 shots all, it was to be the Tassie girls who were the steadier, winning both these ends by one shot, giving the game to Tasmania, 62-60.

Jenny Redshaw, Kim Saunders, Leonie Price and Maureen Zoon set up the win, 25-16.

Gaylene Elsworthy won 21-18 to give Tasmania two rink wins, while Rebecca Van Ash tried valiantly to help her young team in its 17-27 loss.

The Tasmanian men went down to their Queensland opposition.

Little separated the two teams, with scores fluctuating between one or two shots up until the 46th end.

The Queenslanders then began to pull away for a win.

Penguin’s Adam White, with good support from Scott Summers, Tim Douce and young Michael Sims defeated Nathan Rice, 21-14.

Rowdy McMullen, after leading early, dropped off the pace to lose 20-28 and Lee Schraner found it difficult to hold a shot against Kevin Kerkow going down 9-20.

In round 2 against Victoria the men put up a more complete effort despite going down by 16
shots, 68-52 with the scores not a true reflection of the game.

Lee Schraner’s rink, who couldn’t buy a shot in the morning game against Queensland, played a 20-shot draw with Wayne Roberts.

Robert McMullun went down to Aaron Wilson 15-24 with the Victorian No. 2 Tony Wood playing unbelievable bowls to continually put pressure on the Tasmanian rink.

For Tassie, Alex Elwell played a much-improved game in the lead position for McMullen.

Adam White, who had a big win in the morning game found his rink 1-11 down in no time, but thanks to his efforts the rink fought back well to lose 17-24 to the Mathew Flapper.

A feature of this game was the great lead bowling by two up-and-coming young stars of Australian bowls in Dylan Fisher Victoria and Michael Sims of Tasmania, who staged a titanic battle for supremacy.

The end result of their battle was a draw.

The women were unable to carry their form from the morning game into the afternoon against the Victorian girls.

Gaylene Elsworthy made it two from two with a win against Elise Cowan.

Jenny Redshaw found Samantha Shannahan too good, losing 20-29, and Rebecca Van Asch could not get into the game against Carla Odgers.

The games continue this morning with Tasmania playing Northern Territory in the morning game and West Australia in the afternoon game.
