South Australia’s Torrensville Bowling Club’s highly anticipated under-cover bowls facility, which has been under-construction for the best part of 12-months, will be officially unveiled on August 2.

The $3.6M facility successfully secured funding from multiple Government levels; Australian, State and Local Council and is set to host pennant bowls, social bowls, local community events and bowls days.

“Hosting national, state and international open tournaments is a big part of our club’s future and with our updated facility it puts our club on an international footing,” Club President Mr Gatto said.

“Bowls is growing in participation, particularly from a social and corporate perspective; we can now offer an exceptional relaxing, fresh space for people to meet, congregate, host events and play bowls, from Night Owls to Barefoot Bowls and Come and Try events – being undercover means we can open year round and we’re not impacted by the weather.”

The club has a rich history, made up of merged and amalgamated local clubs over the course of its 100 year history from Hindmarsh, Underdale, Thebarton, West Park and Adelaide Airport.

To celebrate the official opening, the club is throwing open the doors to locals in the area on Friday, August 2 at 6pm, and while entry is free, pre-booked ticket registration, available via the club’s website, will be required.

The opening will encompass a come and try event, inclusive of beginner coaching, with food trucks and live music.

Committed to sharing the celebrations with locals, the club is expecting up to 500 people, with registration required to ensure the function isn’t oversubscribed.

Visit the Torrensville Bowling Club‘s website for further information and to register interest to attend the opening function.
