Vale: Faye Luke

by Aidan Davis on April 6, 2021

Bowls Australia was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former BCiB Australian Jackaroos Team Manager Faye Luke late last week.

Affectionately known as ‘Darls’, Luke made a significant contribution to the sport across all levels, as a coach, administrator and athlete.

In addition to her role with the Jackaroos, Luke was appointed Bowls Australia’s National Training Centre Coach (NTC) for South Australia and Northern Territory in 2011, was the inaugural Coach of the Adelaide Endurance team in the Bowls Premier League competition and contributed at a state level as Bowls SA’s women’s state coach.

Luke played an integral role with the Australian Jackaroos at all international competitions and helped guide the team to a stunning five gold and two silver medal haul at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, her last as Team Manager before stepping aside.

Luke’s Celebration of Life service will occur on Friday, April 9 from 10am ACST and will be live-streamed by Bowls SA for anyone wanting to view and share in the celebration.

Streaming will be made available at https://vimeo.com/531760762

Bowls Australia extends its sincere and deepest condolences to the Luke family and the many friends ‘Darls’ made across the sport of bowls.
