In their first outing since returning from the World Bowls Championships in Adelaide in December 2012, the Black Jacks will take on Australia’s Jackaroos in the age old Trans Tasman rivalry at the Howick Bowling Club in Auckland, as Yahoo! Sport New Zealand reports.

The tournament will take place from March 20 to 22, 2013, with New Zealand trying to turn the tide against Australia who claimed five of the eight gold’s at the World Bowls Championships.

The Black Jacks will have their work set out for them as they set their sights on the overall titles coming up against a strong Australian side who are riding the crest of the wave following their World Bowls Championship success.

But New Zealand will front a strong team and a fighting spirit comprised of Senior, Development and Under 18 players who will bear the silver fern.

The senior team is mainly comprised of the World Bowls team who claimed three silver and two bronze medals in Adelaide. New faces to the team will include current World Singles Champion of Champions player Sandra Keith, past development player Andrew Kelly and the return of past Black Jack Dan Delany.

The Black Jacks will be flanked by an experienced Development team and an Under 18 team which was selected from four national camps which drew out the countries young bowling talent.

“It’s going to be fantastic having all three age groups together, which gives the underage players a great opportunity to mix with the superstars of the game,” said National Coach Dave Edwards.

“The Australian players are coming off exceptional performances at World Bowls and they are going to be full of confidence in the senior event.”

For spectators this will be a spectacular demonstration of bowls with all age groups taking the green next to each other fighting for national glory.
