Some of the sport’s high-profile stars were sent packing on Day 2 of the 2019 Australian Indoor Championships, with a number of upsets across the board.

In the day’s second session (10am), the highly-fancied Aron Sherriff (def by. Max Goldsmith), Ben Twist (David Wells), Barrie Lester (Robert Briglia) and Natasha Scott (Joan Thomas) were all eliminated in what was a Round of 16 session of carnage.

Then in the third session featuring Quarterfinal action, defending champion Rebecca Van Asch was also de-throned, losing to Warilla’s Pamela Willetts who was one of eight players to secure a spot in the Semi-Finals.

Those to also win their way through to the last four were men’s defending champion Aaron Teys, Daniel Hill, Dane McKinnon, Robert Briglia, six-time champion Karen Murphy, Genevieve Delves and Samantha Noronha (pictured).

Day 3 of the 2019 Australian Indoor Championships will see the first of the Semi-Finals take place, with the remaining Men’s Semi-Final to be played at 9am, Thursday morning. Finals to follow.
