2019 Australian Open: Thursday Finals Wrap

Having previously won the title in 2016, Natasha Scott has secured her second Australian Open singles crown following a comprehensive 21-12 victory over Tiffany Brodie in the final.

Elsewhere, BCiB Australian Jackaroo combination Ray Pearse and Aron Sherriff tasted victory in the Men’s Pairs Final, winning 13-11 over the South Australian duo of Nathan Pedersen and Wayne Ruediger.

Over on the other show rink at Broadbeach, there was another Australian Open crown for the foursome of Lynsey Clarke, Anne Johns, Kelsey Cottrell and Rebecca Van Asch (their 24th AO title between them), a maiden Over-60’s Women’s Pairs title for Jude Whaites and Jane Bush, while the quartet of Bradley Lawson, Scott De Jongh, Jamie Anderson and Kurt Brown prevailed in a titanic Men’s Fours Final late in the day.

Meanwhile, the penultimate day of the 2019 Australian Open also saw the four para sport finals run and won, with 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games heroes Ken Hanson and Jake Fehlberg taking out two finals each.

Hanson winning both the Multi-Disability Singles and Pairs (with Lucas Protopapas), and Fehlberg the Vision-Impaired Singles and Pairs (with Brandon Smith).
