2019 World Singles Champion of Champions: Aussies off to perfect start

by Bowls Australia on October 29, 2019

Australia’s representatives at the 2019 World Singles Champion of Champions have made the perfect start on their journey towards a world title.

Victorian pair Lee Schraner and Kylie Whitehead emerged from Day 1 without tasting defeat, with Schraner winning all three (Singapore, South Africa, Japan) and Whitehead (Zimbabwe, Nambia) two of their scheduled matches.

Schraner’s biggest test came against South Africa’s Wayne Rittmuller in which he dropped the first set, only to recover and close out the match in a tie-break, a result that could shape the section.

The 2019 World Singles Champion of Champions will be played in two sections in both men’s and women’s events.

The top of each section will go forward to the semi-finals, while the 2nd and 3rd placings in each section will be randomly drawn to play off for the remaining two places in the semi-finals.

The winner of Play-Off 1 will play the winner of Section 1 in Semi-Final 1. The winner of Play-Off 2 will play the winner of Section 2 in Semi-Final 2.

Bowls Australia (BA) will be live-streaming finals action from the 2019 World Singles Championships, from Saturday, November 2 to Sunday, November 3.
