Aero Bowls national rankings

There have been over 1200 people accumulate ranking points in the new player ranking system with all of those being awarded with an official Australian Ranking.  The race to be crowned Aero Bowls Male and Female Bowler of the Year is gearing up for a big finish with 13 ranking events registered between now and the $225,000 Australian Open.

St Johns Park’s David Holt and Raymond Terrace’s Natasha Scott are still the front runners; however they have a number of challengers hot on their heels.

The male and female point’s leader following the conclusion of the Australian Open each year will be declared the ‘Race winner’ and would be recognised and awarded appropriately as Australia’s No.1 Ranked Player and a $3000 cheque each courtesy of Aero Bowls.

The philosophy of the new Player Ranking System is to give every bowler in the country equal and just opportunity to accumulate rankings points and after seven months thousands of bowlers can officially say they have an Australian ranking.

There have been 802 men accumulate ranking points and 475 women; all of which have been awarded an official Australian ranking that you can find below.

With Easter fast approaching numerous bowling clubs are playing host to tournaments and carnivals and there is still plenty of time to get your event registered.

If your event carries a total prize pool of over $12,000 it will be classed as a tier 3 and winners will receive between 36 and 72 points depending on the discipline.

If your event has a total prize pool between $3000 and $11,999 it would be classed a tier 4 with the winners receiving between 24 and 48 points depending on the discipline.

There are less than 80 points separating first to twentieth in both the male and female rankings, so tournaments between now and the Australian Open could have a huge impact on the final placing’s.

Registering your event can be done online and will cost a club just $63.

Each event approved will receive promotion of that event through the Bowls Australia website and social media channels.
