Anticipation building ahead of blockbuster BPL Cup National Finals

Excitement is building ahead of the sixth edition of Bowls Australia’s BPL Cup National Finals, the largest instalment of the event to date.

19 teams from around the country will converge at Brisbane’s Club Pine Rivers from Sunday, November 6 – Thursday, November 10 to vie for the coveted national crown.

The BPL Cup is a grassroots competition that allows club-based teams to win their way through qualifying rounds to compete on a national stage.

Qualification for the commenced as early as March this year, with teams having to win through preliminary qualifying rounds before advancing to regional and state finals.

Victories at those events secured their place on the big stage, with the 2022 BPL Cup National Finals coinciding with BPL16.

This year’s field is bigger than ever, with an additional three Western Australia teams.

2022 BPL Cup National Finalists

The three WA qualifiers from 2021 have been invited to compete at the 2022 National Finals, after COVID border restrictions prevented them from competing at the 2021 finals at Moama earlier this year.

There are plenty of stories of resilience and determination from the qualifiers, including that of Brisbane-based clubs Windsor.

The club is back in full swing bigger and better than ever, with the win proving to be an emotional one fo the team.

BPL Cup national finalists from Windsor

The 2022 BPL Cup final will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo from 1pm AEST on Thursday, November 10.

Competitors will get to rub shoulders with some of the best players in the world, all while enjoying the energy and excitement of the BPL and competing for a national title of their own.

This year, 817 teams competed in 126 varying rounds of the competition, making it one of the biggest BPL Cup seasons to date.

It won’t be long until clubs will have the opportunity to nominate as host venues for preliminary qualifying rounds of the 2023 BPL Cup. More information will be available via bowls.com.au in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
