The golden trio of Kelvin Kerkow OAM, Mark Casey and Robbie Wild uncharacteristically failed to obtain a result during their first set Power Play but still managed to sneak across the line, penciling in a 5-4 score.

But it was the second set where the home state heroes displayed their true colours, posting scores on all five ends to finish with a 10 shot margin.

The golden contingent now have two game buffer over the second placed franchise, after the Adelaide Endurance recorded a comfortable 5-3, 9-2 victory over bottom placed Sydney Lions  to move into the top two.

In the remaining round seven encounter, the Perth Suns claimed their fourth win over the Melbourne Roys 8-3, 3-7, 3-0 to slot into third spot with three round-robin matches remaining before the finals series ignites tomorrow night.

Round eight of the APL commences at 2.45pm AEST, with top two teams Gold and Endurance locking horns, the third and fourth placed Suns and Blackjacks pitted against each other, and the fifth and sixth positioned Roys and Lions squaring off.

The third night of live Fox Sports 2 and Sky TV NZ broadcasts kicks off form 5.00pm till 9.30pm AEST, with APL ambassador Mick Molloy joining the broadcast crew for special commentary.
