The Right at Home Jackaroos have enjoyed success at the Broadbeach Bowls Club with a solid first test victory against Ireland after day one of the three-test series.

The day was headlined by Commonwealth Games pairs champions Kristina Krstic and Ellen Ryan who made winning international returns in the same discipline that they conquered in Birmingham three months ago.

Kelsey Cottrell and Bolivia Millerick made their were back in action for the Jackaroos for the first time in multiple years as they teamed up to win one of the four women’s pairs contests in the opening session.

Aron Sherriff donned the green and gold yet again and his return was also marked by a hotly fought 13-11 victory in the men’s fours with Corey Wedlock, Barrie Lester and Matt Lucas.

The Australians continued their form in the final session of the opening test, falling in just the one match as Ireland’s Ryan McElroy and Mark Wilson were able to overcome Jesse Noronha and Ben Twist in a brilliant pairs encounter.

It would be an Australian test victory with score lines of 21-3 for the men’s sides and 18-0 for the women’s

Rounding out the day was the opening stanza of the second test, with the Jackaroos picking up where they left off after the break.

Australia would only surrender the one game in the final session, with Stuart Bennett, Shane Leonard and Simon Martin overcoming Noronha, Sherriff and Aaron Teys with a thrilling 18-17 triples victory.

The second test will resume tomorrow morning at 9am AEST at Club Musgrave with the third to follow later in the afternoon.
