In a coup for the sport, Bowls Australia (BA) has been successfully granted federal funding as part of the $28.9 million Move It AUS Participation Grant Program.

The Move It AUS Participation Grant Program is to be conducted over four years, with national sporting bodies and local physical activity providers among the 50 successful groups who will receive a total $13.8million in grants for 52 projects announced by Federal Minister for Sport Senator Bridget McKenzie last Thursday, March 28.

These grants will give sport, physical activity and local government provider’s resources to get Australians moving and to support the aspiration to make Australia the world’s most active and healthy nation.

BA was successful in receiving $250,000 in funding for the Jack Attack program, a fun and fast-paced format of the sport which aims to encourage participation with non-bowling members of the community.

Bowls Australia Chief Executive Officer Neil Dalrymple welcomed the announcement by Sport Australia.

“Jack Attack is at the forefront of BA’s strategy to promote the sport to a new demographic of players and I commend Sport Australia’s commitment to supporting this vision,” he said.

“The program provides the tools to see the sport appeal to non-bowling audiences, as well as the more than 600,000 regular participants nationally.

“BA shares the mantra of Sport Australia in encouraging physical activity and its associated benefits among all Australians, no matter their age, ability, gender, demographic or socio-economic status.”

Further announcements will be made in July as to the Jack Attack initiatives that will be rolled out as a result of this funding.
