BowlsLink gathering momentum with data transition
Bowls Australia (BA), in partnership with the State and Territory Associations (STAs), has developed BowlsLink, a new tailor-made information technology system for all levels of the sport, inclusive of a modern bowls competition management system and a centralised connected membership database.
Over many months, BA and the STAs have transitioned the data from the previous Bowls Connect system into the new Bowlslink system.
This process provides members and clubs with the opportunity to ensure the accuracy and relevancy of all data held in the system in order to assist with the effective administration of the sport.
As part of the national register, BA and the STAs require full names, date of birth, gender and contact information to assist in ensuring individuals are able to be identified, if required, and communicated with.
As part of the funding of the sport, it is vitally important to have accurate information pertaining to membership numbers and demographic information, particularly for clubs and associations who apply for local and state grants, in addition to BA and STAs who apply for state and federal funding.
From a national perspective, it is crucial that BA is able to accurately report membership demographic information to Sport Australia.
It is also important that as the sport evolves, BA is in a position to ensure that participants are not disadvantaged by competitors entering competitions where they are not eligible, especially with new initiatives and age-based competitions, such as Over-40s, being implemented across many areas of the country.
