#BPL11: Day 2

by Bowls Australia on February 26, 2020

Finals spots at #BPL11 remain anyone’s for the taking after day two of competition at Moama Bowling Club on Wednesday.

Just two wins separates top-placed Murray Steamers from last-placed Melbourne Pulse with six rounds remaining before Friday evening’s finals.

The home-town Steamers continued to give their home fans something to cheer about on Wednesday, moving to the top of the table after some scintillating play throughout the day.

Ryan Bester and Jo Edwards proved why they are two of the world’s best, while Michael Walker continued to play his part as a substitute.

The Melbourne Roys found form after a slow start to join the Steamers on five wins and eye-off a return to finals.

The Perth Suns were the big movers on day two, recovering from the disappointment of a win-less day one to record three wins and stay in the hunt for a finals berth.

An inspired move to shift Lee Schraner to lead and Cody Packer to skip –  with Kristina Krstic rotating through – was crucial in changing the Suns’ fortunes.

Melbourne Pulse slid to the bottom of the table, picking up just two wins to take their tally to three from eight matches.

The middle of the table is a logjam of teams, with no side able to stake their claim for a clear top four spot. Adelaide Pioneers, Brisbane Pirates, Sydney Lions and Tweed Heads Ospreys all have an even 4-4 win-loss record.

Each side has shown glimpses of a brilliance, but have been unable to produce that standard on a consistent basis.

There is plenty of excitement heading into Thursday, with all teams still in the hunt for finals and not a single one safe as of yet.
