#BPL14: Day 4 wrap
Three teams have booked their place in the #BPL14 finals with just two rounds to play, following a busy moving day at the Moama Bowling Club.
Home franchise Moama Steamers require just a solitary victory on Friday’s last day of competition to all but cement their place at the top of the ladder come finals time, following three wins and one loss during another scintillating day for the team.
The Adelaide Pioneers and Sydney Lions will join the Steamers on finals night, courtesy to successful days, with the South Australian franchise claiming two wins, while the Lions’ chances were bolstered by an undefeated day.
Two-time defending champions Tweed Heads Ospreys ended the day with an even ledger, meaning they only have to record a solitary win during tomorrow’s final two rounds to reach the finals stages, while the Perth Suns sit closely behind.
The Suns emerged from the fourth day of competition with two wins from their four encounters, and will be hoping to maintain a hold on fifth spot with the Gold Coast Hawks and Brisbane Pirates breathing down their necks.
The Hawks and Pirates sit even on wins after the Brisbane outfit won the Queensland derby of sorts during the night’s fourth broadcast match after a tense second set.
The Melbourne Pulse recorded two wins to leap-frog both the Melbourne eXtreme and Tasmania Tridents, and will miss the finals even with two wins on the final day.
Unfortunately for the eXtreme and Tridents, there was more agony with the close losses continuing for both, with the eXtreme now etching up just two wins from 11 tiebreaks across the week, while the Tridents are yet to register a victory when matches go the distance.
BPL14 wraps up on Friday with the remaining two rubbers, ahead of the finals action, commencing with the first elimination round at 4pm AEDT, before a second elimination round, semi-final, preliminary final and final encounter, all broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sport NZ until after 10pm.
